A friend recently asked me if I would take a couple pictures of a near by building. It was a quick favor and I didn’t know what to expect so I didn’t bring much gear. When I arrived I didnt know what to do, I had to take a few minutes to figure out what was going on. My first thought as a pigeon flew by my head and runs into a near by window is how quick can I take a few shots and get out without falling through the second floor. After taking a few shots and learning some of the history I really got excited about the photos I was taking. I plan to get back to take more photos and some portraits.

A little history on the building. The Averyl building was built in the late 1890s and was called the Havana Club. In 1906, the building then became the Granda Theater. At one point it turned into Hotel Manitou which rented for $3.75 a day and is still painted on the side of the building. During the prohibition it was said the hotel was a brothel and the basement was a speakeasy.

You can check out more of the photos from the hotel here.
